Local information

Directions

The meeting will take place at the Faculty of Science of the Radboud University, Heyendaalseweg 135, 6545 AJ Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

The lecture hall (HG00.304) is located on the ground floor of the Huygens building (with the green facade), to the right of the main entrance (see the map below and the Campus map).

The University campus is outside of the city center (2.7 km from Nijmegen Central Station). For public transport options, refer to this page. The easiest way to reach the Campus is by taking a bus from Nijmegen Central Station (stop: Huygensgebouw, 2 minutes from the main entrance) or the local Arriva train (stop: Nijmegen Heyendaal, followed by a short 5-minute walk).

The nearest airports to Nijmegen are Schiphol (Amsterdam), Düsseldorf, and Eindhoven.

Public transport

For planning public transport visit https://9292.nl/en (also available as an app). You can use public transport by checking in and out (!) at stations and on busses with a bank card, which is a quick option. Be sure to use the same bank card for both check-in and check-out, and at train stations, ensure you select the correct carrier. You can also buy e-tickets through the 9292 or NS apps.

Lunch option at the venue

Most University buildings have canteens or cafés (see this link). The Giga-Bite canteen is located in the Huygens building, while The Refter canteen, 650 meters away, offers a wider variety of lunch options. The CultuurCafé is an option for dinner on campus. However, we recommend exploring the city center for a wider variety of dining options.

Local tips

The Netherlands is largely cash-free, and in many places, cash payments are not accepted.

If you plan to pass through Arnhem or are considering an excursion (just a 30-minute train ride from Nijmegen), we recommend a visit. Arnhem is the birthplace of Hendrik Lorentz, and a monument dedicated to him can be found in Sonsbeek Park, conveniently located near the Arnhem train station.
