Venue

The workshop takes place in the room MZH 1380/1400 at the University of Bremen. The address of the venue is Mehrzweckhochhaus, Bibliothekstraße, Bremen.
The MHZ building (Mehrzweckhochhaus) is located at the Campus of the University of Bremen near the stops of the tram line 6 “Bremen Univeristät/NW1” (arrow at the bottom) and “Bremen Universität/Zentralbereich” (arrow at the center). The lecture hall is at the first floor of the MHZ building (see below).

Additional information:

The accessible entrance is at the front of the building facing the street. Elevators are also available. There exists a nursing room, which serves at the same time as the first aid room (1170), at the same floor. It also contains a diaper-changing table.

Directions to the University

Arrival by car

When approaching Bremen by road on the A1, change to the A27 in the direction of Bremen - Bremerhaven. Exit the A27 at junction “Universität/Horn-Lehe” and follow the signs for “Zentrum/Universität”. There are plenty of parking lots in the vicinity and on campus (from 70 Euro cents/day).

Arriving by train

When leaving the central station take the South exit for “Stadtmitte” (city center). Taxis and trams leave directly from the station forecourt. The taxi fare will be about 14 Euros. The tram is cheaper: take the number 6 tram in the direction “Universität”. When the tram reaches the campus you can get-off at the stops “Universität NW1” or “Universität/Zentralbereich”. Taxi and tram will take you to the university in about 10-20 Minutes.

When booking a ticket for the train it is sometime cheaper (at least in the German booking system at
www.bahn.de) to buy a ticket to a city further away, say, Hamburg. Of course, the connection should go via Bremen.

Arrival by plane

From City Airport Bremen:

The taxi fare from the airport to the University is about 20 Euros. Tram number 6 will take you directly to the University. When the tram reaches the campus, you can get-off at the stops “Universität NW1” or “Universität/Zentralbereich”.

From Hamburg Airport:

Flight connections to Hamburg are often considerably cheaper. However, you would have to take the train from there, which takes about 1:30h altogether:

Take the metro S1 in the direction of “Wedel” for which you will need an extra ticket. You can purchase it at the airport stop (3,20€). Get-off at the “Hamburg Hbf” – Hamburg’s main train station. From there you can take regional trains (ME) and high-speed trains (ICE). They leave about two times per hour and take 64 min and 55 min, respectively. You can check the schedule at www.bahn.de.

Public Transport

You can find the information of the public transport in Bremen at http://www.bsag.de/en/information.html. A standard single ticket is 2.70€ (“Preisstufe I, Bremen”). It can be bought prior to the trip at the customer center near the central station (exit “city center”) or directly in the buses and trams. You will need change for that. The tickets you are buying in the tram or bus are already validated. Otherwise, you have to do this after entering the bus or tram. If you want to use the public transport at night you have to buy an additional “Nachtzuschlag” (additional night fee).

Internet access

The building belongs to the University of Bremen and wireless internet access will be available via eduroam, for which an account is required. Please, check before your departure that your eduroam account is active!

Child care

There are possibilities to organize child care during the event. Please contact Norman Gürlebeck (norman.guerlebeck(at)zarm.uni-bremen.de) as soon as possible for the arrangements since the places are limited.
